Tuticorin, July 23, 2024 – The V.O. Chidambaranar (VOC) Port in Tuticorin has once again set a benchmark in maritime cargo handling by achieving a new single-day record of 17,385 tonnes of coal. This significant milestone was accomplished at North Cargo Berth-2, using a Harbor Mobile Crane to efficiently unload coal from the vessel MV Eco Sikousis.
Breaking Previous Records
This new record surpassed the previous high of 17,174 tonnes, which had been established just a week earlier on July 17, 2024. The back-to-back records highlight the port’s increasing throughput and operational efficiency, placing it among the most rapidly advancing ports in the country.

The coal consignment handled on this occasion was destined for M/s. Balaji Malt Pvt Ltd. Several partners contributed to the successful operation:
- Stevedoring Services: Provided by M/s. BL Transport Pvt Ltd
- Ship Agent: M/s. Pearl Shipping Agencies
